What an honor it is to be a Bleeding Woman

I was 16 when I received my first period. I had no idea then how sacred that first blood of menarche was. I was on the “late” end of bleeding and although my circle of friends already started bleeding, it was not something that was talked about.

I received a box of tampons from my sister and looked at the picture to figure out how to insert the tampon. I had never connected to my own yoni and suddenly I found myself trying to stick a tampon, laden with chemicals, into my vagina.

I then ran off to play soccer and “moved on” with life. I am grateful that I never experienced cramping or painful periods, but that only enabled me to continue life as normal when bleeding is a time of sacred rest, intuitive awakening and creative potential. After just a few months of my cycle, I then went immediately on hormonal birth control and remained on it for five years.

And let’s be very clear, you do not have “natural periods” when on birth control. You simply have times where you bleed when you stop taking hormones. I finally chose to stop taking birth control and my period did not return for a whole year after. I was infertile at the age of 21!

When my period returned, I still knew nothing about my womb blood as sacred. It wasn’t until I became pregnant at 25 years old, with my 1st daughter, that I began to realize the power of bleeding & it’s cleansing abilities. Each month that I did not bleed, it became more apparent how much I relied on my monthly cycle to move emotions, clear attachments and woundings and restore my creative energy.

After three births I fell more and more in love in my sacred blood. I love my body, I love her wisdom. I love my womb and her ability to let go and rebuild. I love the health of my cycle as it reflects the health of my whole being. I love giving my blood back to the sacred earth. I love sharing with my daughters the beauty of bleeding, the magic of menstruating and the life-giving power of the womb.

I rejoice when my blood arrives! I can feel the pressure building the days before and the most ecstatic joy of release when she finally flows. The first few days of bleeding are slow, simple and restful. I honor this time in a way that I was never taught. I no longer put chemical laden cotton inside my sacred yoni or move on with my day as if nothing has changed. Everything has altered.

Bleeding women are portals of life, of death and creative potential. This is a time where profound insights into my own spiritual journey and divine mission channel through. I truly love this time of bleeding. And as I reclaim menstruation as sacred, I reclaim the lifetimes of shame and guilt that myself and my ancestors held around their own moon cycle.

Bleeding is sacred, pure, powerful and magical. It is time to reclaim the ancient feminine mysteries of honoring the bleeding women and to celebrate the sacred initiation of menarche when a girl becomes a women.

Initiations are important for spiritual evolution and growth. When a girls receives her first blood and becomes a women she unlocks her sacred gifts for this life. She awakens to her creative power. She see’s her life has profound meaning and healing potential.

So often teenage girls receive their blood and are taught to hide it away with shame. She isn’t held in the full initiation of her womanhood and feminine power. The spiritual unlocking of her womb creative energy becomes suppressed and distorted. This disconnection to our womb and blood as women leads us to become dissociated to our own power, boundaries and intuition.

Our womb sheds, to create a fertile ground for new life, every month. Our womb teaches us that letting go is a part of the creation cycle. Our womb teaches us that rest is just as important as action. Our womb is a mirror to how we live in this world. Listen to her. She is not something to fix or ignore. She is not a burden.

On the contrary, your womb is the physical embodiment of the Divine Mothers Womb of Creation. Your womb portal is created from the same Divine Blueprint of the Cosmic Womb. From your womb portal, all things can be created. You have infinite power to create, to become, to birth into reality, that which you desire to create. You have infinite potential to birth healing, harmony and love through you. Your womb guides you, empowers you and activates you into your magnetic frequency.
